Today, more than 150 world leaders will convene at the United Nations headquarters in New York City to kick off the UN Sustainable Development Summit 2015 and formally adopt an ambitious new sustainable development agenda. The summit will focus on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets which build on the Millennium Development Goals from 2000 and complete what those did not achieve. The new SDGs aim to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and reverse climate change by the year 2030.
