Nikki Korn was interviewed by the Springfield Republication news publication on the role of corporate philanthropy on social issues and the innovation behind the Panera Cares Cafe, which opened in Boston in January 2013.
Korn stated that Panera is using a corporate philanthropy best practice in connecting it’s business expertise of managing restaurants to address the social issue of fighting hunger in the U.S. today: “Panera’s not just thinking about donating dollars but thinking about how to engage their employees as volunteers, how to leverage their expertise in providing great food and also the café experience and connecting with the community.”
