Overview

Aramark Building Community, a global philanthropic and employee volunteer program, deploys the company’s unique professional culinary, nutrition, workforce training and facilities management skills to create opportunities for underserved people to lead healthier lives and succeed in the workplace. This program is a core demonstration of Aramark’s CSR commitments and brings its CSR theme— Enriching Lives Every Day—to life for employees and local communities.

Since launching in 2008, Aramark has invested tens of millions of dollars in volunteer expertise, financial and in-kind resources to strengthen the capacity of more than 100 local community centers in 52 cities in the U.S., Canada, Ireland, and the U.K. By dedicating the skills and expertise of tens of thousands of employees, Aramark has impacted millions of lives. In developing the program, Aramark recognized the important role human-centered community centers play in addressing the comprehensive needs of people of all generations living in diverse neighborhoods – community centers are trusted, local resources that families rely on for the essential services and programs that help them succeed. The team found that community centers’ largest areas of need align with the company’s greatest strengths.

As a global employer of over a quarter million people, Aramark helps link adults and teens with information and hands-on training to prepare them to find and keep meaningful jobs. Aramark’s hiring managers assist with job searches, teach interviewing skills, and develop new competencies needed in the workplace.

Aramark employees also work to improve family health through nutrition education and awareness programs, teaching essential workplace skills and helping maintain safe, strong, and inspiring community facilities.

Aramark Building Community Day, the company’s global day of service, has become an annual demonstration of its year-round dedication of employee skills, time, and service excellence to strengthen families and local communities. A global unifying theme associated with lifestyles and workforce development, toolkits, trainings, signature events, celebrations, and consistent communications empowers employees to take action.
