2012 ARAMARK Awards Recognize Programs that Put People to Work

The second annual ARAMARK Building Community Innovation Awards honor and support programs that are proven to put people to work and serve as best practice examples of new, creative solutions that help families succeed and revitalize neighborhoods. As part of these awards, ARAMARK provides a total of $100,000 in grants to recognize three community centers and one community center executive director. The awards are hosted in partnership with United Neighborhood Centers of America (UNCA) and the Alliance for Children and Families (Alliance), which together form the largest network of independent, local community centers.

The Peter B. Goldberg ARAMARK Building Community Executive Leadership Award recognizes one outstanding executive director for their active voice and leadership. The 2012 award recipient is Family Service of Greater Boston CEO, Randal Rucker.

The Innovation Awards for Workforce Readiness recognizes community centers for their job readiness programs that put people to work.

The 2012 winner for Preparation for Growth Industries is Casa Central’s Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program in Chicago Illinois.
The 2012 winner for Business Ventures as a Training Ground is East End Community Services’ Dayton Works Plus in Dayton, Ohio.
The 2012 winner for Skills Training for Targeted Populations is Family Service Agency’s Community Re-Integration (CRI) program in Phoenix, Arizona.

AMD Changing the Game Program Recognized

International Data Group (IDG) has named the AMD Foundation as the 2012 Laureate of IDG’s Computerworld Honors Program. Every year the program recognizes organizations that use technology to support and create positive social, economic and educational change. The AMD Foundation’s global signature education program, Changing the Game, uses gaming to inspire youth to learn techniques and do better in school. The coverage highlights Sam Adams’ microloan program that will expand from 10 states to 50 and provide an additional $1 million dollars in funding to small businesses nationwide. Sam Adams has expanded its signature microloan program, Brewing the American Dream, to all small food, beverage, craft brewing and hospitality businesses nationwide. The expansion will provide at least $1 million in new loans and industry-specific coaching, mentoring, and educational resources to business owners across the country. ARAMARK Wins National Recognition Award

The National Restaurant Association (NRA) recognized ARAMARK’s commitment to communities through ARAMARK Building Community with the 2012 Restaurant Neighbor Award. The awards celebrate outstanding charitable service efforts restaurateurs perform in their communities.

Launched in 2008, the ARAMARK Building Community program helps families in underserved communities across the United States and beyond by providing funds, volunteers, programs and professional services to strengthen community centers. To date, ARAMARK has contributed more than $7 million through grants, product donations and 15,000 employees volunteering their time to help the community. Sherman Judges Net Impact Competition at BU

Risa Sherman judged the 17^th Annual Net Impact Competition for the Boston University Graduate Net Impact chapter. Based on a case study about Keurig, students had to identify key CSR initiatives on which the company should focus over the next year.
