Mark began volunteering in elementary school and has never stopped. Today, he advises companies and nonprofits on the flawless development and execution of social impact programs, with a specialty in employee engagement. With more than ten years of experience in public education, nonprofit program development, and corporate citizenship, Mark possesses a unique set of knowledge and skills that bridge the gap between the public and private sectors.
Throughout his career, Mark has been focused on empowering others. At the University of Oklahoma he led the school’s largest campus-wide program –The Big Event—engaging more than 5,000 students volunteers during one weekend. After college, he joined Teach For America in Houston, teaching third graders representing more than 16 different countries. Later, as part of Points of Light Foundation, Mark focused on global volunteer program development focused on new partnerships. He then applied his growing expertise to collaborate with the co-founders and board of directors to develop and implement the KIPP Foundation’s 20th anniversary national strategy.
Mark holds a BA in Journalism and Public Relations from the University of Oklahoma and an Executive Master of Public Leadership at the University of Texas at Austin. In 2012, he completed the American Express Leadership Academy. As an avid traveler, he is skilled at finding great deals using airline miles and hotel points, often ‘volunteering’ to give up his seat to someone with a good story.
